VISIT OF THE AMBASSADOR OF INDIA TO TOMSK

On May 22, a delegation of Indian diplomats headed by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumar, visited Tomsk. A hard-driving programme of the distinguished guests in our city also included a visit to Tomsk office of Imperial Energy, an Indian company with a Siberian heart.

In addition to H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumar, the delegation also included Mr. Vivek Singh, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation, Ms. Anna Galovich, Secretary for Social Issues.

The programme of visit was opened with a meeting with the Governor of Tomsk region, Vladimir Mazur, and his deputies, during which the main areas and prospects for cooperation were discussed.

The head of the region called the Republic of India a long-standing and important partner of Tomsk region, mentioning as an instance the operations of Imperial Energy, owned by the Indian corporation ONGC, as examples of successful partnership. The Governor also noted that the Tomsk company Artlife has been supplying nutritional supplements to the Indian market for over 10 years, has built its own manufacturing there, as well, there are 275 Indian students currently studying at Tomsk universities. Tomsk scientists are also conducting joint scientific projects with 14 leading Indian universities.

According to the Governor, our region is very interested in further developing this cooperation. The Indian side is interested in it too. Clear evidence of this is the fact that the visit to Tomsk was Mr. Kumar’s very first trip to the Russian regions after his appointment as ambassador in April 2024. After meeting with the Governor, the Indian delegation visited Tomsk State University, getting acquainted with the capabilities of the Big University of Tomsk, the scientific and innovative activities of Tomsk scientists.

Then the distinguished guests arrived at the Tomsk office of IE, where they met with the management of our group of companies. During the meeting, Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Saket Gupta, presented the activities of Imperial Energy.

With your activities, you contribute to the good cooperation of our countries in one of the most significant areas of the economy – oil and gas production, which serve as the basis of energy industry. I sincerely wish your company further development and prosperity, many long and fruitful years of work in Tomsk region”, - H.E. Ambassador wished.
