Russian-Indian cooperation.
On April 10, a meeting took place between the management of Imperial Energy group and representatives of the Tomsk Region Administration in charge of investment policy and international activities in our region. The delegation from the Administration included Mr Vasiliy Potyomkin, Deputy Governor on Investment Policy and Property Relations, Mr Aleksey Stukanov, Head of the regional Department of International and Regional Relations, Mrs Yevgeniya Nefyodova, Chairwoman of the International Relations Committee, Department of International and Regional Relations.
During the meeting, the heads of IE – Mr Saket Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr Aleksandr Baklanov, General Director, Indian advisors – told the guests about our current operations, plans of the company for the future.
“We are grateful to India for its friendly attitude towards Russia and the intent to continue operations in our country, despite sanctions and pressure from other countries. The Tomsk Region Administration is extremely interested in that IE, which is one of significant subsoil users in the region and a representative of large international business, should continue its operations on Tomsk soil. We are ready to do whatever is necessary within our powers to ensure that,” Vasiliy Potyomkin, Deputy Governor, assured at the start of the meeting. In course of discussion that followed, the parties determined specific steps in this direction.
The authorities of the region are ready to assist IE in negotiations with large companies of the Russian oil industry in order to attract them as partners, to facilitate familiarization with the conditions for doing business in the Tomsk Technology Development Special Economic Zone, and innovative projects of its residents.
For its part, Imperial Energy confirmed its readiness to become an "outpost" of Russian-Indian cooperation in the Tomsk region. To this end, our group of companies will soon collect and send to the regional administration proposals from Indian businessmen who are potentially interested in working on Tomsk soil. In the future, it is planned to hold an “Indian Business Day” for them, organized by the joint efforts of our company, the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation, and the governor's team. At this event, Indian companies will be able to receive complete information and answers to all relevant questions. It is also planned to host a presentation of the Tomsk region at the venue of the Embassy of India for Indian companies already operating in Russia.
In addition to business issues, during the meeting, attention was also paid to the development of cultural ties. IE has been actively working in this direction for many years: since 2015, our group of companies has been holding International Yoga Day in Tomsk, providing charitable assistance to Indian dance groups. Deputy Governor Vasiliy Potyomkin proposed to jointly organize the "Festival of Indian Culture and Cinema" for Tomsk residents. IE CEO Saket Gupta supported the idea.
